CAN a realtor have an open house while bid id pending on the property????

I'm so upset right now. I have a bid pending with the sellers as type but just went by the property and seen a sign saying open house Sunday 2-4. Now whether she had it yesterday sunday---or is going to have one next week, is this against the law since I have not heard the response back from sellers. My bid was put in on Friday and here offices said Tuesday by 7:00 pm for the seller answer would be fine due to the holiday (today)  so can you please tell me if this is wroung.

As far as I know - yes.  I would like for another agent to chime in on this as I'm not 100% sure but I don't believe there are any stipulations against the agent holding an open house while an offer is pending.

    Other agents???

The seller can hold their house open until it is CLOSED if they want to. Until you have a fully executed contract, the listing is still clearly an active listing.

Most Buyers take exception to Sellers holding open houses after a signed agreement...in the Buyers mind it is their home .  It is not a bad idea to get agreement on this when negotiating the sale .  In this market, you can't blame a Sellers for wanting to keep their home visible and their options open.

Here's a secret...we agents don't usually hold open houses to sell the house we're holding the open house on.  We hold open houses to get contacts and leads.  Sometimes we get a buyer  for the same house we're at.  (disclaimer, that's usually how it goes in Vegas). There's nothing wrong with holding an open house until it's closed and you're the new owner of record.  Of course, if you decided to buy that particular house because you went to an open house - I guess my theory is shot.

Interesting debate. I wish there was more stuff like this on the forum and not all these crappy advertisements and spam postings.
