I am just curious what the market is like in SF...any agents out there who can help? Is SF more expensive than LA? Ciao

I am not from San Fran but really love that city. The only item that makes me nuts about it these days are the bums. They are everywhere, it is really a shame. Other than that, San Francisco is worth what ever anyone is willing to pay to live there. I have no idea about the market or the numbers. Sorry

I think it's kinda tough to compare LA and SF...LA has lot of pockets, some of the areas can be super expensive but some aren't.  I am no agent but I imagine SF being more expensive than LA...hope you get a better response than mine ;O

    LA Rocks-

I'm curious...how bad is traffic in LA?  There was just a report that the DC area is #2 in traffic and LA is first I believe, is it as bad as everyone says it is?

The traffic is bad in most of LA, period. But it does really also depend on where you are in LA. So for example, the 405 freeway is basically a lovely parking lot that moves at Amoeba speed (10-30mph) with rare moments where you actually reach the speed limit at around 3am and only far away on the outskirts of the valley will you get the option of putting your foot to the floor. It is bad enough that the private highway was basically invented here and since Orange County is so spread out there is no way of building public transportation like a subway or rail line. They have it, but it does not really get used. Kind of a shame. So to answer your question - yeah the traffic is easily the worst in the country. Hope that helps.

There are a lot of bums..no doubt about it, but if you know the city well enough and where to go and where not go, you should be fine.

Don't let the bums deter you from San Fran, it's great...if you can afford it!!!

Parts of SF are more expensive than LA. But are you talking LA or the LA area, like Bel Air, Santa Monica, or the OC, like Newport.

It all depends on what you're looking for and where in SF you want to live

Comparing LA to SF, well, it's like Watermelons to Grapes.  SF is like a small Manhattan, but much more beautiful and a lot cleaner.

Like in NY, you can get around SF without a car. No way you can do that in LA -

SF is "neighborhoodie" like Manhattan - different parts of the city will offer you different things.

SF is cleaner than NYC...I think that is definitely not factual at all. When was the last time you were in NYC - ok 25 years ago, you would have been right but not now. NYC is not only cleaner it definitely does not have the ridiculous number of bums that San Francisco has. I guess it depends on your definition of clean. So, back to the question of the city itself - which neighborhoods offer what? Some examples with photos or links would be great.
